Sportsmen's Devotional- Anticipation

Bible Verse/Version

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Thoughts:

A year ago, I bought my first satellite cameras for scouting purposes.  I have used cameras for a long time that utilized SD cards, but I can attest to the fact that the satellite cameras are game changers.  The amount of information that I get now in a timely manner is amazing, and I get to see the pictures on my phone every day.

For the last month, I’ve been watching a bachelor group on my hunting property. There are two big bucks that I am completely stoked about for when bow season opens up.  Who knows if I’ll ever catch up to them during the season, but what I can tell you is that I am anticipating spending days out in the woods this fall just for that opportunity.

Action Point:

As Christians, we should be living with an anticipation each day of what is to come.  Once we become Believers, we know what our eternal destination is.  Not that we want to immediately pass away, but having the picture of heaven and knowing that Jesus is there waiting for us, well - that should excite our hearts with anticipation.  One day, we will get to meet our savior; in the meantime, we can live with hope each day because of the glimpses that God has provided of heaven in his word.

Sportsman’s Tip of the Day:

With the new satellite phones, you can have your phone set with notifications each time there is a new picture, or you can choose to just peruse them at your leisure.  It’s a nice feature that you can determine for yourself and what fits best with your schedule in life.
